Zoo Excursion: Adastra Gardens Bahamas with Transportation Included

Explore this four acres escape of lush tropical garden is situated in the Island of Nassau, Bahamas. The Ardastra Gardens, Zoo & Conservation Centre is open daily from 9am to 5pm and features 3 daily special showings of the famous marching flamingos. Show times are at 10:30am, 2pm and 4pm.

Around winding pathways, the informal gardens hold constant surprises – a cozy limestone bench in a secluded corner or the sight of a kingfisher that just flew in to enjoy the view. A footbridge over a pond where a swan mingles with Bahamian ducks and fresh water turtles sun on the shore overlooked by archways of shrubs and exotic plant life.

Created by Jamaican horticulturist Hedley Edwards, who later brought the flamingos from the southern Bahamas as a contrast to the greenery, the gardens have matured into a contemplative setting bursting with color. The gardens are always changing, but with a sense of a time past when the pace of life was slower and there was time to enjoy the stillness, the tranquility, to marvel at the gnarled vines climbing a 40ft mahogany tree, to watch a bird peck or just collect your thoughts and restore your spirit.

A nature reserve, a place to beat the stress of daily life, Ardastra Gardens attracts birds of all species, some on a migratory path, others just being neighborly and searching for the same pleasure the visitors seek – a feeling of peace, of being one with nature in a setting that is as quiet as it is colorful. Perfect for birdwatchers!

There are numerous photographic opportunities with “Toby” the Cockatoo, “Jackie” the Snake and “Freddy” the Peacock. While walking the Gardens, friendly and informed staff will answer questions while two-legged feathered friends will freely entertain. Light refreshments are available at the “Parrot Pit Stop”. “Toby’s Treasures” is filled with gifts/souvenirs so that you can take a piece of Ardastra home with you.

Baggy Rocks will provide transportation to and from your location.
